Jasiri Network is a project close to my heart and dear to me. It’s something I’ve been wanting to put together for a while, but life happens and never really got round to it.
When I moved to London 3 years ago, I didn’t know what the future held and having to start afresh in a new country with no friends or family was hard. It meant making new friends and forming a community around me which can be tough as an adult. On top of that, I had to find my way around London, navigating through the skyscrapers, Tube lines, gloomy weather and building a career at the same time.
From arriving at Heathrow feeling overwhelmed with the fast pace of London, to opening a traditional brick and mortal bank account 6 months later and the ever-fascinating driverless trains that scared the day lights out of me, I’ve come a long way. I wouldn’t be who I am today and experienced so much if it wasn’t for the friends I’ve made along the way and the community I’ve come to cherish. This community has been hugely made up of an amazing group of young professionals that I didn’t know about prior to moving to London and one which is ever growing since I moved here. Young people just like you and me, moving to the UK to pursue their professional career and doing a fantastic job while at it.
Jasiri Network hopes to be the home away from home to all those young professionals who are spreading their wings globally. This is my attempt at telling their stories in the hopes to inspire others and in the process bring our community together.
