Stories Next Door - Founder and Host

My academic journey has been a bit of a world tour. I grew up and studied in Tanzania at a British international school, then hopped over to Malaysia for my A-Levels (because why make things easy, right?). Eventually, I landed in the UK for my bachelor’s degree, and let’s just say, I’ve gotten really good at adjusting to new places, new cultures, and new weather - though I’m still in denial about how cold it gets here.

Now, my professional journey? A total rollercoaster. I started working with Independent Training Providers (ITPs), helping education providers navigate apprenticeships and funding rules. Then, in a classic let’s shake things up moment, I jumped into tech as a Customer Experience Manager. It was a steep learning curve - one day, I was deep in education policies, and the next, I was deciphering SaaS jargon and pretending to understand why tech people love acronyms so much. But I love the challenge, and I’ve found a space where I can really make an impact. But that’s not all - since I was young, I’ve always dreamed of working in media.

I was actually a radio presenter in high school (yes, I had the radio voice and everything), but my parents didn’t take it seriously as a career. So, years later, I made that dream happen my own way and launched my podcast, Stories Next Door. It’s where I get to do what I love most - talk to incredible people, share their stories, and create a platform for voices that deserve to be heard. It’s been one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever done. And if you think that’s all - surprise! I’m also a certified microblading artist.

Yep, I shape and bring life to eyebrows like it’s an Olympic sport. I got into it after my best friend had cancer, and I saw how she lost her hair, including her brows. I wanted to help her feel like herself again, and what started as a way to fix that turned into a skill I now use as a weekend side hustle. Because, let’s be real - good brows can change lives. Ever seen someone with bad eyebrows? Exactly. It’s serious business. Outside of all that, I love finding the best food spots. If there’s good food involved, just know I’m already there.
